My public radio debut.
Commentary: Internet Rubbernecking © WFCR
The first in a series of commentaries I’m doing for 88.5FM WFCR, the local NPR member station, aired on Friday. They’re beefing up their local content with a program called “Morning Edition Extra” on Fridays, and I’m among the stable of commentators that will be contributing occasional pieces.
Mostly my contributions will focus on the intersection of journalism, technology and civic life. This one addresses something I feel strongly about: That fostering an intelligent dialogue around the news you produce is an important part of being a journalist in the digital age.
I’m a big public radio nerd and it was fun to get in the studio and try it out myself. I’ve got a good voice for air except that I’m a mumbler and I talk too fast. Luckily the folks at WFCR were good teachers and patient editors (“That was good, now do it just like that, but slower“).
