I’m really looking forward to the February 2 premiere of “Digital Nation,” the feature-length installment of an ongoing Web project PBS is doing that explores how we live and interact on the Web. From their Web site:

Digital Nation is a new, open source PBS project that explores what it means to be human in an entirely new world — a digital world. It consists of this Web site as well as a major FRONTLINE documentary to be broadcast in winter 2010. Our production team is posting rough cuts and raw footage on the web, and gathering input, feedback and stories from users as we go.

The project’s production team includes Douglas Rushkof, whose film “The Persuaders” first turned me on to FRONTLINE when I watched it in a marketing class in high school. The site has a lot of features; you can (and I have) spend hours watching snippets of video and rough cuts from the film.

A few weeks ago, though, I was a bit surprised when Rosie pointed out to me that I had actually contributed to the project.

I had somehow managed to forget that I’d entered a contest from SMITH magazine and Digital Nation. The contest asked you to write six words on the digital age and, hey presto, I ended up on the Web site.

Funny that I was never notified. I guess there wasn’t a prize involved.
