I pulled up to a shady parking spot along Jersey Avenue, the street where I live in Fairview, NJ. I noticed my neighbor, a friendly guy who hangs out on the steps of our building, sitting on a bench in front of the laundromat a few doors down. He was looking up.
“Hey, watch those parrots don’t shit on your car,” he said, gesturing toward the tree on the sidewalk.
“Parrots?” I said.
“Yeah, parrots,” he said. I guess he was right.
