It’s no secret that the reporter of the digital age spends too much time in front of a computer. How, then, are we supposed to stay fit for the next time we have to chase down a really good story?

I like to keep a healthy regimen of newsroom skateboarding.

Warning: Do not try this at home. Most couches are much too bouncy.

Great video! Back in the day, we had a soccer ball in the newsroom and a football so between editing and laying out pages we attempted to squeeze in “exercise.” The Collegian staff also played street hockey every Friday afternoon. Half of us were on rollerblades and the rest of us ran. During my senior year, our managing editor was the RA on the UMass Hockey Team floor and one of our columnists, Pete Trovato, played on the team. We had a few Fridays where guys from UMass hockey came to play with us. It was pretty awesome.

  2. Haha, that’s awesome. I’m sorry to say we’re not as active as you guys were. There was a short-lived softball team called The Collegian Ballers, but we don’t play any hockey.
